History of Safe Restraints Inc.

In 1994, an article from the International Association of Chiefs of Police highlighted the risks associated with the ‘prone position’, noting that it could lead to ‘positional asphyxiation’ in combative individuals placed face down.

To mitigate this risk, the report advised restraining individuals in positions other than face-down. However, upon investigation, no alternatives to ‘prone control’ were available at the time.

This lack of options led to discussions between Sergeants Ron O'Dell and Craig Zamolo (pictured), of the Walnut Creek Police Department in California USA, along with some assistance from medical professionals invented the initial concept THE WRAP safety restraint system.

With the support from the law enforcement and medical community Safe Restraints Inc. was founded.

The WRAP has since proven to be the safest restraint system available and used by thousands of agencies. Additionally, new and innovative restraint equipment has been designed to further reduce the risks associated with restraining/controlling an individual.

With Charles Hammond as the company's CEO (pictured), Safe Restraints Inc. has become the leader in providing the safest equipment in the industry.
